According to the paper 'Coleen Rooney looks like she has snapped back into shape as she went on her first evening out since having son Kai'
I thought I'd share my experience of 10days after birth, obviously we mere mortal mummy's have a few other things to do than go out to glitzy nights out.
This is me 10days after birth:
- I have just about managed to get out of my PJs by midday.
- I can just about bear wearing a bra (sore nipples etc)
- I am still in my baggy stretched out maternity wear due to jelly that has taken residence in my tummy area.
- My dirty hair is about 10days old too
- My morning routine includes 15minutes on the toilet freshening everything up thanks to post baby loss. (sorry but it's true!)
- Another 5minutes is then spent looking for clean underwear
- I manage to get some time to myself when new baby is sleeping, this 'me time' involves housework or eating.
- The only time i go out without my baby is to put something in the bin.
- My biggest achievement is to get everyone in the car under 15minutes.
- I probably have only done one outing with new baby due to feeds etc
So there you see, as a mum of four (nearly 5) i still can't get it right to look fabulous after 10days.
Would I love to look like Mrs Rooney 10 days after birth?
Hell yes, but i tell you what, I'd rather look a bit crappy. This means I can spend every single second of my day looking after the little baby I have lovingly waited for, so i can start learning everything about my new bundle. Good on you Mrs Rooney, but do you know what your little one did whilst you were out? I bet the nanny/babysitter does (meeow) lol xxxxx
you do actually look quite beautiful though it has to be said!
ReplyDeleteHonestly I'm so sick of hearing about the Rooneys. It actually makes me not want to buy a magazine if they're on the cover.
I can't believe she's out already, what's wrong with these people, what are they trying to prove!? Also note the baggy dress/top and I bet she's girdled up to the hilt to stop any saggyness! I mean I've never understood how "famous" women don't get the jelly belly that us "normal" women get!
ReplyDeleteObviously not breastfeeding....LOL!
Joanne x
With you on this. In fairness she's wearing quite a floaty dress which hides her tummy a bit so she may not have snapped completely back into shape. But these pictures don't help us new mums feel good about ourselves. Even though she has stylists and personal trainers and staff, etc. I totally identify with your list - made me laugh! And after my first I was laid up with an infection and taking a cocktail of painkillers and antibiotics for weeks. He was about 5 months old before I had an evening out! Like this post, well said.
ReplyDeleteAmy I have to say you look so lovely on that photo!
ReplyDeleteI see what you mean and I have to agree. The media add a massive pressure on women. They give birth and want to look perfect straight away. Of course it is hard to achieve if you don't have a nanny, a cook, a butler and a good plastic surgeon on hand...
Call me boring but I don't think that a baby should be away from their mum 10 days after they are born just so she can go to a concert. The baby isn't just another fashion accessory.
ReplyDeleteUrgh, this has really wound me up!
Anyway, you look so happy and lovely there. Better than Mrs Rooney any day!
Actually I'm quite disgusted....I could never have left one of mine at ten weeks old let alone ten days.
ReplyDeleteThere are plenty more nights out to come but that newborn time is so precious and short.
Makes me quite sad really.
Bet in truth she wasn't that happy, she doesn't look that happy in the photos.
XXXX
I agree with Chic Mama, my youngest is six months old and is going to stay with her Grandparents for only the second time in her life tomorrow night. The first time was only a few weeks ago! I just can't get that mentality at all.
ReplyDeletei just cant see how going out 10 days post birth can be anything close to enjoyable let alone wanting to.
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous to me!
ReplyDeleteCrikey, you look so bloody young. Oh, wait - you ARE so bloody young! :-)
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, you look absolutely beautiful. According to Big M, I looked like 50 years old, yellow and swollen after the c-section. Yum! If we all had an armada of people to look after us, or the money to spend on hair-dos, facials and fake teeth, we'd be Rooney-tastic in no time at all. Good for her, I would have loved to have someone to make me feel fab. I still would, hehe.
Now leaving a ten days old behind, that's a completely different story...
What happened to bonding with the baby let alone going out on the town? Much prefer to have some saggy bits and love my baby.
ReplyDeleteUpsy. A ten days-old baby, that is. The 2nd glass always does that to me...
ReplyDeleteDarling you look totally gorgeous in that pic - seriously. Very lovely. And much better than Mrs Rooney before or after pregnancy! Ten days after giving birth I think I was still sitting on my inflatable ring wearing disposable knickers!! xxxxx
ReplyDeleteIt was ten months before I went out without a baby attached to me!
ReplyDeleteBloody hell! I didn't even know she was pregnant. That's what comes from moving out of the country. I really ought to read the gossip websites more!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the prefering to be at home 10 days after giving birth!
How can anyone tell she has 'snapped' back into shape wearing that piece of drab cloth? !
ReplyDeleteYou look like a million dollars to me hon and no need for you to wear lashings of 'slap' (make-up) either! You look as fresh as a daisy.
Love RMxx
Bah humbug to paps!!!! xx
You look beautiful missus!
ReplyDeleteEach to their own, if she wants to go out then that's her choice entirely doesn't make her a bad mum and everyone needs a couple of hours 'me' time. She just left the house for hers.
I don't however like the whole celebrity race to lose baby weight it's un-natural and dangerous and sets a poor example to lots of women.
:)
Liz: thanks hun! I am sick of hearing about them too and now we mummy's get to hear about it even more with her AMAZING appearence pah!!
ReplyDeletejoby: it is a baggy thing she is wearing probably her stylist's choice to make her look fab lol!
PHM: Thanks sweetie x Everything must be easier with a long list of people doing things for you. But i agree, the pressure on normal mum's to act the same is very high and unfair.
Emily O: i think the worst thing about it is that new mums will look at her and see that she is out after 10days looking like she never had a baby. That is a lot of pressure and unrealistic pressure too, after having 4babies i know it is better to rest and enjoy your baby than rush around trying to act like nothing has happened.
Kelly: Thank you xx you're not boring! It wound me up too grrrr, i wouldn't be able to even have a good night out even if i went out becuase i would be worrying too much.
chic mama: i totally agree with everything you said and she doesn't look happy either, so why did she go? maybe just a PR stunt.
vonnie: I have to be dragged out by my hubby when it comes to the time to go out at night, i always panic, even now when i leave all four of them i worry.
snafflesmummy: i agree, my body aches for weeks after giving birth and with bleeding and such i couldn't even think of wearing tights and heels!!!
momsweb: thank you xx
metropolitan mum: lol!!! i would love to be pampered like her and have the odd nip and tuck. She's lucky she can do and afford all that and like you say good on her. but 10days after birth you'd be dragging me out of the house kicking and screaming lol x
ReplyDeleteaingeal: i agree with you, bonding is very important and very special too.
maternal tales: aww thanks hun, and i love your comment, ahhh the thought of sitting gingerly brings back memories lol!
pippa: and why not we all leave the nest when we are ready xx
brit in bosnia: oh yes apart from going out for shopping home is where i am at least until the midwife stops visiting.
rebel mother: lol it hides a mutitude of sins that cloth dress. And thank you for your lovely words you are so kind xxxx
insomniac mummy: thanks hun!! I agree the race to lose weight is immense and the pressure it puts on mum's everywhere is horrid. Of course everyone is different and everyone had their own 'me time' i think my 'me time' at 10weeks was a shower lol, But i'm sure she does a good mummy job :)
wow you look amazing hun what are you on about.
ReplyDeleteNot sure I can even remember 10 days post birth lol so I know I can't have been looking glam :)
I think Rooney is just dressing well. She has an unfitted black dress on, and black tights.... all very slimming and if you look at her face she def' has tired eyes. BUT I do agree with what you're saying xx
ReplyDeleteMe again! Got an award for you at mine. Hope you like it.
ReplyDeleteLove RMxx
My GOD, if I looked anything like you 10 days after giving birth I would be a very happy mummy!
ReplyDeletePoint 5 on your list is so very true. Coleen does look fab in the photos but I know that if my mum had taken the Bear when he was ten days old I would have used the spare time to catch up on some sleep and do other things that I hadn't managed for over a week, such as wash behind my ears.
